This fascinating Roman Bronze Pendant dates from 1st - 3rd century A.D

The pendant is in the form of a miniature spoon, complete with its original fixing loop.

The Romans, much like other ancient cultures, held a deep fascination with the miniature representations of everyday objects, using them as pendants, amulets, or votive offerings. These miniatures were not only decorative but also carried significant symbolic weight, often associated with protection, prosperity, and health. Among such items, spoons (ligulae or cochlearia) held a unique place in Roman society and spiritual life. Spoons, in particular, were linked to nourishment and the pleasures of dining, a central aspect of Roman social life.
