An unusual piece now available at Timeless Galleries: A tooth fragment of the extinct Steppe Mammoth that roamed the frozen wastes of Siberia over half a million years ago.

The Steppe Mammoth (Mammuthus trogontherii) was a huge beast - over 16' high at the shoulder with wickedly curved tusks that could top sixteen feet in length. Its teeth were typical of the order Proboscidea (mammoths, mastodons and elephants), being massively constructed and heavily ridged to cope with a fibrous diet - which could include everything from grass to tree-branches.

At over seven inches at its widest point and mounted on a pinth of textured steel, this would make a very unusual gift.

Please note: All our stands and plinths are handmade and 'aged' to compliment the piece. This particular stand is made of steel, but has been crafted to look like aged bronze, complete with patination and age-related marks.
