Timeless Galleries are pleased to offer a lovely 1st - 2nd century A.D. Roman Disc Brooch.

Cast in bronze almost two thousand years ago - this lovely little brooch is of disc type and displays the sunburst of the Roman militaristic god, Sol Invictus.

Sol Invictus (or The Unconquerable Sun) was worshipped alongside (and eventually conflated with) the mysterious God of the Roman soldier - Mithras. We have previously written about these ancient gods, which you can find in our blog here.

With a diameter of just over 2cm, enameled Roman disc brooches are rare finds, and much sought after by collectors.

Now available in the Timeless Galleries
