Timeless are pleased to offer an unusual collection of Roman ceramic and terracotta oil lamps dating between the 1st and 4th centuries A.D. From left to right, the collection comprises:
- A 1st - 2nd century repaired slipper-shaped lamp with a central hole and a guilloche to the discus. Length is around 9.5cm
- A 3rd - 4th century terracotta oil lamp with a drum-shaped body, broad strap handle, short tapering nozzle and a central discus with a filler hole. Just over 8cm in length.
- A repaired 2nd century lamp displaying a circular discus with a central hole, D-shaped nozzle and a loop handle. Just under 8cm in length.
The lamps are supplied with a bespoke, hand-finished oak display base. A ready-made collection, now available in the Timeless Galleries!

ROMAN OIL LAMP COLLECTION
Acquired by Timeless on the UK Antiquities Market, 2019. The central pot lamp previously forming part of an important Dutch collection, the remaining two lamps previously forming part of a British collection formed in the 1980s.
