A stunning piece of history from Ancient Rome - now available in the Timeless Galleries.
Here we have a restrung set of Mixed Glass Roman Beads dating from the height of the Roman Empire - 2nd to 4th centuries A.D. The decorated beads range in size from less than half a centimetre to over 2cm in length, with the central bead being formed from a stone seal matrix (which were used to press a family crest or symbol into wax). In this case, the seal matrix displays engraved symbols (now quite worn) to the underside.
At 42cm in length and fitted with a modern clasp, we can guarantee that you will be the only person in the room wearing jewellery made when Hadrian's wall was being built, or when the philosopher emperor, Marcus Aurelius, fought the barbarian tribes of Germania.
A unique piece, now available in the Timeless Galleries.
