Timeless are pleased to offer a Zoomorphic Ewer Spout dating from the 5th - 2nd Century B.C.E.
Fired in Ancient Greece well over two millennia ago, the ceramic ewer spout has been formed in the shape of a wolf or a bear (or possibly an cat - your guess is as good as ours!) and still retains the original maker's stamp of 'Φ0[...]' (Fie, Omicron, Illegible).
While there are dozens of categories of Ancient Greek pottery vessels, it's likely that this piece once belonged to a 'Askos' - a flat topped container used to pour small quantities of liquid. With the stand, the spout stands 14cm high.
