Medieval Spearhead
Timeless are pleased to offer this enigmatic little medieval spearhead dating from the 12th - 15th centuries A.D.
Hand-forged in iron, the spearhead displays a short, closed-ferrule socket and leaf-shaped blade strengthened by a particularly thick midrib.
As with many spearheads (and arrowheads) of ancient times, an exact date is difficult to acheive as their shapes changed little over the centuries and they are almost always found out of context. However, small spearheads like this piece were common hunting tools between the 12th and 15th centuries.
Provenance
Acquired by Timeless on the UK antiquities market in 2018.
