Iron Age Spearhead

This artfully shaped Celtic Iron-Age Spearhead, dating from the 3rd - 1st Century B.C.E. displays a long lentoid-sectioned socket, median flare to the blade and a parallel-sided point. The socket has a prominent ferrule (central split) indicating a British provenance.

 

At 30cm in length, it was will have been used over two thousand years ago by our Celtic ancestors for both hunting and warfare. Framed in a beautiful, bronzed pine, the outer measurements are c. 55cm x 29 cm.

 

Provenance

Acquired by Timeless on the UK antiquities market in 2018. Previously part of a collection formed in the 1970s.
